Source: Waveland Independent Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana November 27, 1914

Mary Ann Ewing, eldest daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Yost Ewing was born in Perry County, Ohio, October 22, 1829. She was united in marriage to Richard A. Shadrach August 21, 1851. To this union were born four children, two of whom survive, Mrs. Henry B. Liggett of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mrs. Francis Kritz, of Waveland. Of Scotch Irish parentage, her ancestors being of the "persecuted of Scotland,' she was brought up in the Presbyterian faith, and early in life united with the Church of which she was a faithful and consistent member. Her early life, and a number of years after her marriage, were spent in Ohio, but hoping to regain her failing health the family removed to Tennessee. In 1886, they came to Waveland, where they have since resided. In May 1911 the husband and father was called beyond, leaving Mrs. Shadrach to remain with her daughters, who have cared for her, and made life pleasant. After long-suffering and patient waiting she was called to be with, "Him who doeth all things well,' quietly passing away at 5:40 Monday afternoon. She leaves in parting two brothers and three sisters, (all living in Ohio) her own children and grandchildren. "Blessed are the dead, who die in the Lord.' Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at three. Interment was in the Presbyterian Cemetery.  -- kbz
